Welcome to the Pre-Prep
Beginnings made brilliant is an important motto at Elmhurst because we understand that the foundations we lay through our early years and key stage one provision are extremely important for any child’s 11+ journey.
Our LIttle Elmhurst Nursery children move to the main school pre-prep at around 3 years old. The Pioneers class lead the way into school life, learning habits and developing their skills that ensure they are well prepared for Reception when formal schooling begins.
Life in the pre-prep is full of variety, something our children really appreciate and the Elmhurst EDGE is really achieved through numerous events and activities that draw in our young learners. One day might begin with a football match on our astroturf surface behind the school, another with a visiting poetry writers workshop or even with a Science experiment or two. We will look to showcase our learning in assemblies or productions, extend it with school visits or trips and showcase the work we do through regular open classroom events through the year for our parents to see.
The performing & creative arts, Into The Woods, sport including weekly swimming, sit alongside our academic curriculum to optimise learning. The blend of creative and mindful activities alongside the rigorous academic demands ensure pupil’s enjoy a well-balanced, enjoyable school experience and ensure brilliant beginnings.
