Nurturing the brilliance in every child takes care, compassion and commitment. At Elmhurst, we have been working for over 150 years in our small, diverse community situated in the heart of South Croydon, to nurture the children we teach and support them in finding their own brilliance.
Elmhurst is a close knit community in which your child is known, builds confidence and informs the right level of challenge. Respect and kindness are modelled and celebrated as we strive to be the best version of ourselves. Curiosity and determination are encouraged as we learn about the world and one another. Bravery, in all its manifestations, is acknowledged for the difficult feeling it is.
Elmhurstians enjoy school and thrive.
We offer enquiry-led learning from six months old in our Little Elmhurst nursery, laying foundations that support pupil development at every stage until our eldest pupils are ready for their secondary schools.
Our unrivalled understanding of the plethora of senior school options available and the necessary journey to 11+ means we begin preparations early for your child, reducing stress and anxiety as much as possible. Expert subject specialists scaffold successful learning paths and ensure every child is given the chance to find their brilliance.
Sport, drama, and outdoor learning are mainstays of school life but so too are additional activities such as knitting club, taekwondo and LAMDA. A buddy system and positions of responsibility for senior pupils boarden relationship experiences. Character development is an important part of that journey too and our pupils enjoy broad curriculum experiences as well as a taught curriculum to help shape great humans who respect one another and appreciate what they can offer the world.
If this sounds like the educational beginning your child deserves, then why not come along and meet our children.
I look forward to welcoming you to our exceptional school.
