Stay & Play Sessions

At Little Elmhurst, our stay-and-play sessions give children and their families the opportunity to explore our nursery together in a relaxed, welcoming environment. These sessions are designed to let children engage in a variety of activities while parents experience first-hand the fun, learning, and care we provide each day.

During stay-and-play, children can:

  • Explore sensory play, messy play, construction, and creative activities.
  • Participate in music, dance, and movement sessions.
  • Develop social skills through play with peers in a safe, nurturing space.
  • Enjoy outdoor learning in our garden and outdoor classroom, connecting with nature.

Parents and carers can:

  • See how our curriculum supports key developmental milestones.
  • Gain ideas for extending learning at home.
  • Build relationships with staff and other families in our community.
  • Understand how we prepare children for the next stage of their education, including school readiness.

Stay-and-play sessions at Little Elmhurst are not just about fun—they’re about fostering confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning in children while helping families feel part of our nursery community.

Special Events & Celebrations at Little Elmhurst

At Little Elmhurst, we love creating memorable experiences for children and their families through seasonal events, celebrations, and fun activities. These occasions give children the chance to explore, play, and learn in exciting ways while bringing the nursery community together.

Examples of events we host include:

  • Mother’s Day Breakfast Morning – a special morning for mums to enjoy breakfast with their little ones.
  • Father’s Day Afternoon Tea – a fun and relaxing afternoon for dads to join in activities with their children.
  • Easter Bunny Hop (Charity Fundraiser) – children take part in festive games and activities while supporting a good cause.
  • Christmas Stay & Play with Santa – an enchanting festive experience where children meet Santa, enjoy creative activities, and celebrate the holiday season.
  • We also offer workshops focused on school readiness, helping children become familiar with routines, classroom expectations, and skills they will need for a smooth transition into Reception.

These events are designed to strengthen family connections, celebrate milestones, and create joyful memories, all while supporting children’s social, emotional, and creative development.
